LUMIGAN EYE DROPS
Lumigan Eye Drops – An Overview
In December 2008, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the use of bimatoprost, a FDA approved drug traded as lumigan. The cosmetic counterpart of this drug will be sold as Latisse. This drug is generally used in case of eye problems. Lumigan aids a lot in serious eye diseases like glaucoma or other similar eye troubles. Basically this drug is used for treating patients with high eye pressure.
Lumigan belongs to the prostaglandins class of medication. Basically, it opens the channels in the eyes through which eye fluid is drained out. Thus it helps to drain out the fluid more easily. Thereby, the excess eye pressure is reduced, which prevent the optic nerve from getting damaged and consequent loss in vision. However, it is not prescribed to use on children.
There is only a single standard dose of lumigan or bimatoprost ophthalmic solution, however severe the eye condition maybe. Without consulting the doctor, the dosage of this drug should not be altered. There are some general considerations that should be followed while using this drug.
Lumigan generally comes as eye drops and is recommended to take once daily. It should be kept in mind that the hand is properly washed, else the dropper may get contaminated and cause intense eye problems, including loss in vision. Any contact lenses should be removed before applying lumigan and should not be replaced for at least 15 minutes. Any doubts about the dosage should be clarified with the pharmacies or the doctor immediately. For proper result of the medication, regular and as prescribed use of this drug should be made.
Limigan Eye drops can react adversely if taken with other medicines like Latanoprost (Xalatan) or any other eye drops. If at all required to take any other drops, then sufficient time gap between their applications should be maintained. Otherwise, permanent damage to the eyes will occur. Generally, five minutes time gap is sufficient.
Prior talking about lumigan, it is necessary to have a proper discussion with the healthcare provider. Any inflammatory eye conditions like iritis or uveitis, any allergies to food, dyes or preservatives, whether the patient is pregnant or not and whether breastfeeding should be made known to the doctor. The doctor must also about know all the medications for the patient before prescribing this drug to avoid serious health hazards.
All possible care should be taken before consuming this drug. Lumigan eye drops are a very effective drug, but if consumed improperly, can cause serious problems.

DOES LUMIGAN WORK ? OUR REVIEW
Well does Lumigan work? I never used the drug so it’s hard to say but i searched the web and goolgled Lumigan and studies have shown that with daily applications directly to the base of eyelashes, Lumigan® stimulates eyelash growth and increases the length and thickness of eyelashes in about four months. Lumigan is approved by the FDA for eyelash enhancement. 78% of patients had significant growth of their eyelashes with daily use of Lumigan.
LUMIGAN 0.03% has been reported to cause darkening of eye color, eyelid skin and eyelashes, as well as increased growth of eyelashes. Pigmentation changes can increase as long as LUMIGAN is used. After stopping LUMIGAN, darkening of eye color is likely to be permanent while darkening of the eyelid skin and eyelash changes may be reversible. The effects of increased darkening beyond 5 years are not known.
When only one eye is treated, there is a possibility of eyelash changes in the eye treated with LUMIGAN. These changes may result in differences between the eyes in eyelash length, thickness, darkness, number of eyelashes and/or direction of eyelash growth. These changes are usually reversible upon stopping LUMIGAN therapy.
If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using LUMIGAN. Then wait 15 minutes after using LUMIGAN before you put your contacts back into your eyes.
If you use more than one eye drop medication, wait 5-10 minutes between putting in each drop.
The most common side effects are eye redness, growth of eyelashes, and itchy eyes.
If you have a lumigan eyelash growth review please leave a comment and tell us if lumigan works.
